Sorry for the long post. Please read to the end. We would like to address a few things and answer the questions that have been asked.
The cost of yearly park upkeep is $36,670.00. This includes items such as utilities, insurance, taxes, repairs, and maintenance. While the park has been closed due to COVID restrictions, we do not have any income to offset these costs. These costs do not include pay for the caretaker and board of directors; as they are all volunteers and not paid.
The average cost to run Territorial Days is $57,000.00. These expenses include but are not limited to entertainment, log show, advertising, booklet, silent auction, souvenir booth, parade, bounce houses, princesses, and equipment rentals. This cost does not include the extra for COVID-related expenses, such as hand sanitizing and cleaning.
Although we are in Phase 3 we are not able to have more than 400 people in the Park. This includes volunteers who help run events, vendors, spectators, and participants. This is due to the following reasons:
We do not have designated seating for events. Open, unreserved seating like out on the grass is not allowed.
We do not have controlled entrances and exits, therefore not having the ability to monitor the exact attendance. There is no way to control every spot where people enter and exit. The entire property would have to be fenced and the fence monitored constantly.
Social distancing and mask-wearing would have to be enforced.
Fundraising: We do have more in the works. Soon you will be able to purchase a tree similar to the MDA Shamrocks and CMN Balloons. You chose your donation. They will be available at local businesses. When they are available we will make an announcement. Send us your fundraising ideas. We are interested. Call, email, or send a message via Facebook. We will reach out when we are ready to begin fundraising.
Donations: When it comes to our Go Fund Me link, you do not have to pay a fee. Click on the tip portion. Go down to custom and enter 0. We will be starting an actual campaign soon. The current Go Fund Me link is to donate to us directly through Go Fund Me Charity because we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit. We had to claim our charity to be able to have the donations come directly to us and to be distributed to a 3rd party, who then distribute to us.
