Birling (Log Roll) - Double Elimination
Two contestants called "Birlers" roll on the same log in the water, trying to get the other off balance enough that he or she falls into the water.  Birlers cannot cross the center line on the log. A fall is the first person to hit the water.

Chain Race
For this event, each competitor brings their own chain which they put on a stock saw. Time begins when the chain touches wood and stops when the round falls free.

Choker Setting (Men's, Women's  and Youth Categories)

Double Bucking
A pair of contestants work a two person bucking saw through a 20 inch log, competing for the best time to the complete cut. Starting cuts of no more than 1/2 inch deep are allowed in order to set the teeth of the saw. Timing starts with the work "GO' and ends when the log is severed.

Modified Saw Race
Contestant uses his/her own saw. They start with the saw turned off, on the ground and with both hands on the log. When "GO" is called, the contestants must start the saw and make a full cut of the log. Then the saw is turned off and the contestant runs down the 40 foot log to the other end. The saw is then re-started and the contestant makes one last cut. Time stops when the second cut falls to the ground.

Obstacle Pole Race
This contest takes place over the pond. Contestants start on the shore of the pond, pick-up their chainsaw and move to the end a log pole positioned over the water. When (and if) the contestant makes it to the end of the pole, they start up their saw and try to cut through the 8 inch log pole without falling into the pond. If the contestant makes a successful cut through the log, he/she then shuts off the saw and heads back down the pole to the marked position on the pole without falling into the water.

Pole Climbing

This is a timed event. In a one-way climb, the contestant starts with one foot on the ground and begins climbing on the announcer's "GO". The climb ends when the climber rings the bell at the top of the pole.

Last but NOT Least!    Kids vs. Loggers
Tug-o-War

Last event of the day, All Kids are welcome to participate in a tug-o-war with the loggers. This tug-o-war takes place with the Log Show Pond in the middle. Guess what happens to the losers of this tug-o-war! Into the drink! (Our loggers are pretty tired after the day's competitions, so that must be why they always lose this event!)
